APS is welcoming three new administrators

APS is welcoming three new administrators that were approved by the Board of Education Monday night. All three educators bring an outstanding background and extensive knowledge to their new positions. We are excited to have them join the district in their new roles.
The three new administrators are:
Kori Knudson, Principal of Sanborn Elementary has a BA and a MA from Michigan State University, has been in education since 2014 and has been an administrator since 2018. She has worked in Okemos Public Schools, Reed City Area Schools, and most recently in DeWitt Public Schools. “Our family is relocating to the beautiful Alpena area for many reasons. As an Alpena native, my husband Ty, has always brought me up here and I fall more in love with the area each time. We are looking to plant roots and raise our family in a community that is full of natural wonder, great friends, and amazing people”, said Knudson.
Lauren Brown, Assistant Principal Thunder Bay Junior High School, has a BA from Taylor University, A MA from Indiana University, and has been in education since 2013. She has worked in Plymouth Community Schools as a teacher and a science department head. “My family and I are excited to be moving to Northern Michigan. I grew up in Charlevoix. . I am excited to be back on the lake as I grew up sailing with my dad, and we are excited for a change for our family. I look forward to joining the team at TBJH and cannot wait to get started!”, said Brown.
Becky Meyer, Assistant Principal Ella White, has a BA from Grand Valley State University, and has been in education since 2005. She has worked for Bingham Arts Academy and Alpena Public Schools as a teacher, a curriculum implementation specialist and most recently as an instructional coach. “I love working at Ella White, there are amazing students and families, I look forward to continuing to work hard and do what’s best for the Ella White community”, said Meyer.
