Zero Tolerance on Threats

Following the recent tragedy in Texas we have already seen threats investigated in nearby districts. We are pleading with our families to speak to your children about the seriousness of making threats. The lives of several students in our district and their families were impacted forever following threats made in the first semester after the disastrous event in Oxford.

We are pleading with our families to speak to your children about the seriousness of making threats. The lives of several students in our district and their families were impacted forever following threats made in the first semester after the disastrous event in Oxford.

We must do everything in our power to make sure that our children understand the serious nature of making threats of violence.  The impact of real or “joke” threats is real and far reaching for so many people. For any individual who makes a threat, the consequences will be swift and severe, potentially resulting in imprisonment.

Also, we are proud of and thankful for those brave individuals who brought these threats to our attention.  People speaking up when they hear something concerning is our best tool in keeping our students and staff safe. Each one of these horrible events included opportunities to intervene with the assailant before the event. Please encourage your child to reach out to a trusted adult if they hear or see something concerning or report it to ok2say at https://ok2say.state.mi.us/

Thank you,
