The Alpena County Sheriff's Office and the Alpena City Police are doing a School Supply drive on August 22nd and 23rd at Walmart. People from the public can donate school supplies and hygiene items, etc. for students which will be distributed to area schools.

Because medical costs can be expensive, Alpena Public Schools does provide families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance on their student through Student Assurance Services.
This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primary for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Team 5505's 2nd Annual Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser is quickly approaching! Fun for all ages, this tournament will be held Saturday August 8th at Lumberjack Meadows. Pre-registration is available, but not required. Come play 2 full rounds,win some prizes, meet the team, and if the weather is dry check out the 2026 robot on display!!
