Public Notice: Law Enforcement and EMS Training at Alpena High School
The Alpena Police Department is advising the public that law enforcement and emergency medical services personnel will be conducting a training exercise at Alpena High School on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The training is being conducted to provide law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and other public safety partners with an opportunity to practice and improve their coordinated response to a critical incident in a school setting. Members of the public should be aware that there will be a large presence of law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency vehicles at Alpena High School throughout the day. The training may involve emergency vehicles arriving and departing the school, personnel moving throughout the property, and simulated emergency communications and response activities. The Alpena Police Department appreciates the public's understanding and cooperation as local emergency responders participate in this important training. Exercises such as this help ensure that our public safety agencies are prepared to respond effectively and work together during an actual emergency. There is no cause for concern regarding the increased emergency vehicle presence at Alpena High School on August 12. For questions regarding the training, please contact the Alpena Police Department at (989) 354-1800.
