These items are not required, but are needed and used throughout the year, students usually need some new supplies after winter break. Donations are accepted all year. Thank you for enriching your child’s education.
If you have difficulty providing these items there are several organizations in town that assist with supplies. Please feel free to reach out to school staff for more information.

On Wednesday, August 12 at 1pm we have a public event entitled Marine Science Lightning Talks: Discoveries Across Our Sanctuaries. Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is hosting this year's retreat for the NOAA Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship program. This presentation will feature some of the current scholars.

The Thunder Bay Maritime Festival is scheduled for the weekend of Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23. This weekend will feature tall ship sails available for purchase and many free, public events. View a full schedule at the website event: https://thunderbayfriends.org/maritime-festival/

During the Thunder Bay Maritime Festival weekend certified divers will have the opportunity to partake in Vintage Diving Days, led by the National Association of Underwater Instructors. This hands-on event lets certified divers test out heritage dive gear in a safe, controlled environment and requires pre-registration. It will take place on Saturday, August 22.

Because medical costs can be expensive, Alpena Public Schools does provide families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance on their student through Student Assurance Servies, Inc.
This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primary for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.
