This number is then used to calculate how many teachers and staff are needed, and it also determines the school's total funding, since the state provides a set amount of money per child. This spending plan is used to pay for the necessary staff and resources. Finally, other specific rules and factors set the exact numbers: bus rider levels are determined by where students live and safety capacity, class sizes are limited by collectively bargained agreements, and sports team sizes depend on both athletic league rules and the number of students who sign up to play.
