APS Limited Public Forum Policy
The District-approved social media platforms/sites are considered limited public forums. As such, the District will monitor posted comments to verify they are on-topic, consistent with the posted rules for use of the forum, and in compliance with the platform/site's applicable terms of service.
The District reserves the right to remove comments that are racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam, contain falsehoods, or are wildly off-topic, or that libel, incite, threaten or make ad hominem attacks on students, employees, guests or other individuals. We also do not permit messages selling products or promoting commercial or other ventures.
District-approved social media sites shall not contain content that is obscene; is vulgar and lewd such that it undermines the school's basic educational mission; is libelous or defamatory; constitutes hate speech; promotes illegal drug use; is aimed at inciting an individual to engage in unlawful acts or to cause a substantial disruption or material interference with District operations; or interferes with the rights of others.

AHS Counselor Robyn Miller will discuss options to help families pay for higher education and how to choose a college that is a good match for your student. "Scholarships give our families’ access to education and training that can lead to quality careers for students, without the burden of future repayment", said Miller, “Finding the right institution and environment to learn at is also very important for a successful post-secondary experience.” This event will last about 45 minutes to an hour.

message signs on the traffic signal at the Third/Bagley/Hobbs intersection. These
message signs will read “No Turn on Red” and will be coordinated with the overall
light cycle. The signs will come on when there is a situation where vehicles cannot
turn on red and will be off when right turns are permitted.
The Contractor will complete all work from the shoulders and the intersection will
remain open during this installation.
This work is expected to be finished on Wednesday, November 5, when the signage
will be turned on, unless weather or construction delays occur.
City crews will remove the permanent No Right Turn signage once this work is
complete

AHS Campus Closet is OPEN during Evening Parent/Teacher Conferences 3-6 PM 10/30/25
When a school bus comes to a stop and activates its red flashing lights, drivers traveling in both directions are required to come to a complete stop at least 20 feet away from the school bus. Drivers must remain stopped until the school bus resumes moving down the road or turns off its red flashing lights. Drivers who violate this section are guilty of a civil infraction and face fines between $100 and $500, and up to 100 hours of community service.
Because medical costs can be expensive, Alpena Public Schools does provide families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance on their student through Student Assurance Services.
