Alpena High School Auditorium 6-7 PM on Thursday November 6th 2025
This event is intended for juniors, seniors and their parents, and may be particularly valuable for first generation college going students. All who are interested are welcome to attend. AHS Counselor Robyn Miller will discuss options to help families pay for higher education and how to choose a college that is a good match for your student. "Scholarships give our families’ access to education and training that can lead to quality careers for students, without the burden of future repayment", said Miller, “Finding the right institution and environment to learn at is also very important for a successful post-secondary experience.” This event will last about 45 minutes to an hour.

When a school bus comes to a stop and activates its red flashing lights, drivers traveling in both directions are required to come to a complete stop at least 20 feet away from the school bus. Drivers must remain stopped until the school bus resumes moving down the road or turns off its red flashing lights. Drivers who violate this section are guilty of a civil infraction and face fines between $100 and $500, and up to 100 hours of community service.

Be aware. Listen, look, pay attention to the people, and places around you.
Go with your gut. If you feel uncomfortable about something you have seen or heard, talk to an adult to help you sort out the facts of the situation.
Report. There is a difference between reporting and tattling or gossiping. By providing information either directly or confidentially, you may be able to prevent harm to others.
Know what to REPORT.
