2025 ACC Soccer Camp
Come join us on Friday September 19th at Woodward Ave, Alpena for our first-ever ACC Soccer Camp, open to boys & girls.
U6, U8 & U10 costs $25 and runs from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
U12, U14, & 14+ camp costs $30 and runs from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
The older age groups will also include a specialist goalkeeper camp.
The younger age groups will learn basic skills and participate in a few fun games, while the older kids will undergo more advanced drills and have the opportunity to take the ACC Soccer fitness test (if they believe they can handle it).
All attendees will receive signed pictures of the players, have the opportunity to take photos with them after the camp, and receive complimentary tickets for the ACC home game against Hocking College on Saturday, September 20th.
The camp will be run by ACC Men’s Soccer Head Coach Nick Fletcher, who is a UEFA B, English F.A., and USSF licensed coach and a former professional player from England. Several players from the ACC inaugural soccer team will also be coaching. They include former standout high school and club players from Michigan, Texas, Arizona, and Washington. Fun fact: one of the players is the younger brother of a current member of the US Men’s National Team and an MLS player.

We celebrate Grandparents Day to honor their vital roles in families, providing wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love to their grandchildren. The day also encourages grandparents to share their experiences and stories, strengthening intergenerational bonds and helping children understand the importance of older generations in society. It serves as an annual reminder to appreciate and nurture the unique connection between grandparents and grandchildren, fostering a deeper connection to family history and heritage.

APS Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch Program Fall 2025
State funding that provided free lunch and breakfast for all students will continue until September 30th. The State has not passed a new budget at this time, so we don’t know if meals will be funded starting October 1st. Nearly 60% of families in the Alpena Public Schools service area can qualify for free and reduced breakfast and lunch at school. Adequate nutrition is absolutely vital to the daily success of our students. It is shown to improve concentration, mood and behavior for students. Although families won’t have to pay for meals at this time, they must still complete qualification forms for their local school.
Completed forms allow schools to qualify to receive state funding to pay for meals as well as funds for;
Instructional specialist staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math Tutors, Academic & Behavior Aids)
Teaching supplies and materials
Counselors and Social Workers
School Nurses
Professional Learning for staff
Parent and Community engagement supplies and activities
Technology for students
Please help your child to have their best opportunity to succeed academically and socially this school year. It is very important for families to complete and return the paperwork needed to continue this option for their students. You can complete it at https://www.alpenaschools.com/page/food-service
or find a downloadable PDF at this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f8lkdfPZvw7nHsQf37XMq70TpZVpgTWo/view?usp=sharing
Any family that needs assistance completing the application can contact their child’s school. If you have questions please contact Food Service Director Rachel James (989) 358-5021 or jamesr@alpenaschools.com.
