APS staff is supporting communications efforts for the EOC and we serve throughout the year as an active member of the Alpena County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

FFA Little Food Pantry at Alpena High School in the rear traffic circle off Garden Street
Alpena High School Career and Technical Education- Algebra in Manufacturing class (AMP UP) students traveled to Besser Elementary to work with students in Mrs. Kwiatkowski's 1st grade class and teach them the process involved in making T-Shirts. This is one of the processes the high school students do in their manufacturing based CTE class business. Students were able to learn about transfers, measurement, and the heat pressing process, all while making their own shirt with the high school students to be able to wear on their last day of school. It was a great collaborative learning experience for both the AMP UP and 1st grade students.

Camp will be a good time to train in an energetic and fun environment, and compete against others and against yourself. This camp will be run by our high school coaching staff, as well as some of our current high school players and alumni. This will be a great time for young players to get introduced to our AHS basketball program, and have fun in a highly competitive environment.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment. APS Athletics presents a new athletic app that provides a single, unified digital platform to strengthen communication, enhance safety, improve engagement, and streamline access to athletic information for students, families, staff, and the broader school community—across all sports, and all seasons. This project aligns with the stated goals of the APS Strategic Plan Pillar IV as it helps to support our partnership with our families as well as utilizes and enhances our districts' community partnerships.
The athletic department will fund it moving forward with a $15 fee per athlete each year. The smartphone app is available for free download by searching “Alpena Wildcats” at the Apple Store or Google Play and is customizable for the user’s preferences.
