Dear Students, Families, and Staff of Lincoln Elementary,

My name is Scott Henwood, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Lincoln Elementary

School. With 18 years of experience as both a teacher and educational leader, I am deeply committed to building

school communities where every child thrives. My family and I are thrilled to join the Alpena Public Schools

community. I am joined by my amazing wife Amanda, our energetic son Colton, our creative daughter Grace, and

our two beloved pets—Oscar the dog and Rex the bearded dragon. We look forward to becoming active and

engaged members of the Lincoln Lion family.

Lincoln Elementary’s mission—“Guiding students to learn their way to a successful future”—aligns directly with

the pillars that guide my leadership: Relationships First, Culture of Excellence, Equity and Inclusion, and

being Future Focused with a Growth Mindset. I believe that authentic relationships form the foundation of

meaningful learning, and I am committed to partnering with students, staff, and families from the very first day.

The Culture of Excellence at Lincoln is evident in our commitment to high-quality instruction, engaging

programs, and the integration of technology that prepares students for success in today’s world. From specials

such as Art, Music, PE, and Health, to student support through Title I, Special Education, and Counseling, our

school is dedicated to nurturing the whole child while maintaining high expectations and celebrating individual

growth.

As a school that serves a diverse and vibrant community, Lincoln is deeply committed to equity and inclusion.

Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Through responsive

instruction, data-driven supports, and restorative practices, we will work together to ensure opportunity and

success for all students.

Being future focused means preparing our children not just for the next grade, but for the challenges of an ever-

changing world. By fostering creativity, digital literacy, collaboration, and a growth mindset, we will equip our

students with the skills they need to lead and contribute in a global society.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your principal. Lincoln Elementary’s tradition of academic excellence,

community involvement, and strong partnerships inspires me, and I am eager to collaborate with you to make

this school year both meaningful and memorable. Together, we will continue to build a school where every child

can ROAR with pride.

Sincerely,

Scott Henwood

Principal, Lincoln Elementary School
