APS Announces Updated COVID-19 & Communicable Disease Protocols for the 2021-22 School Year

For the 2021-22 school year, Alpena Public Schools will implement a multi-layered approach to mitigating the spread of Covid-19 and related variants while our students and staff are engaged in the educational process.  Our goal is to provide face-to-face instruction for our students five days a week.  We will regularly meet and consult with our local DIstrict Health Department No. 4 to evaluate any potential mitigation strategy adjustments based on local Covid-19 data.

Our multi-layered approach has been developed based on the guidance from local, state, and federal health authorities.

Three major aspects of the 2021-2022 COVID-19 & Communicable Disease Protocols are: 1) masks are strongly recommended for all staff and students but not mandated; 2) the COVID-19 Vaccine is encouraged for all eligible staff and students but not mandated; 3) students and staff are required to properly wear a mask while on an APS transportation as mandated by the Federal Department of Transportation.
